High Performance
Our High Performance program, one of the most competitive in New England from middle school through seniors).
Our teams are the top ranked in Connecticut (usually our teams ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th are ranked higher than the top team on other area clubs). Husky Volleyball typically sends about 6-10 teams to either USAV or AAU Nationals between girls and boys.
Are you new to Husky and worried about being overlooked? Don't be, we give all players that attend our tryouts a fair opportunity to be evaluated and selected.
Our tryouts are designed to evaluate every player on objective standards (vertical jump, touch, scores assigned due to proficiency in passing, setting, serving) and subjective standards (hustle, leadership, court sense). We consider all these items prior to selecting our teams.
Each team represents a different commitment level (and travel burden) classified by:
- National (highest commitment, travels around the country, season runs until late June / early July)
- Northeast (very high commitment, travels as far as Philadelphia, season runs until early May)
- New England (high commitment, travel is in New England only, season runs until early May)
- It’s critical to your development to play against tough competition! All of our teams play against an appropriate but challenging level of opponents. You’ll find that Husky teams played in more high level tournaments than all of the other Connecticut clubs combined!
- Players are expected to attend all practices and tournaments (as practically possible). We do understand that there can be some conflicts, but we expect that your volleyball team will be your 2nd priority behind school work if you are on an HP team.

Our HP program information for the upcoming season is posted below. The tryout fee is $75.
Tryouts for players in 10th-12th grade will be held from 8/4-8/8/26
Tryouts for players in 9th grade will be held 11/17-11/19.
Players in grades 8 and younger will have tryouts 10/20, 10/22, 10/24. It is recommended to consider playing in our Fall Ball program with the advanced group (Wednesday nights, Sunday mornings) if you are planning on tryout out for our HP program.

Tryouts 2026
- 18's (grade 12), 8/5/26 (7p-9:30p) and 8/8 (2:30p-5p)
- 17's (grade 11), 8/4/26 and 8/6/26 (7p-9:30p) and 8/8 (11:30a-2p)
- 16's (grade 10), 8/4/26 and 8/6/26 (4p-6:30p) and 8/8 (8:30a-11a)
- 15's (grade 9), 11/17, 11/19 (6:30p-9p) and 11/22 (times tba). May start the week prior to these.
- 14/13/12s (grades 8 and under) 10/20 (grade 8), 10/21 (grades 7 and younger), 10/22 (grade 8) and 10/24 (all grades)
- Supplemental tryouts for grades 9 and above will be held on Sunday, 11/22.
- If you are planning on attending our supplemental tryouts and your high school team is still playing and you are on the varsity roster you may not attend any tryouts, please don't panic... or even worry. Register for tryouts so we know you'll be coming. Just attend the next tryout after either your team is eliminated or wins the state championship. All grades will have a makeup tryout available on Sunday, 11/22. Players will receive full consideration and not be penalized for missing prior tryouts due to state championship games.

Each player will get a tryout shirt and at least 2 tryouts if they are able to begin prior to the final makeup tryout.
When may a student-athlete participate with an outside team in the same team sport?
- A. a. After his/her team plays its final game and does not qualify for the CIAC tournament.
- B. After his/her final regular season contest if he/she is not on the CIAC tournament roster.
- C. After his/her team (if on the tournament roster) is eliminated from the CIAC tournament. If a student-athlete participates with an outside team, he/she may not return to his/her high school team the remainder of that season without being in violation.
